EAT

We’ll Cook, You Eat!

Oregon Hill continues to grow as a foodie destination when award-winning chef Todd Manley and partner Bob Windsor unveiled their new concept restaurant EAT, replacing the hip Pescados China Street. Since it’s opening, Richmonder’s in-the-know have been trekking to Pescados China Street in Oregon Hill (not to be confused with the wildly popular Pescados Latin Caribbean Seafood in Midlothian) for stand-out dishes such as the devilishly spicy Voodoo Shrimp and unbeatable fish tacos. Fans can rest easy knowing their favorites will stay on the menu, but with new twists that offer something for everyone with regards to price, familiarity, and diversity of tastes.

“It’s always been a dream of mine put a twist on nostalgic flavor combinations while using ultra-fresh, local ingredients in an easy-going atmosphere that is distinctly Richmond” says chef/owner Todd Manley. “Pescados China Street has always had a bit of that feel, and I’m excited to expand on it in a very big way.” Todd and Bob decided the incredibly talented kitchen staff they have led by Chef Trevor Knotts and Sous Chef Sean McGee presented the perfect dynamic to launch EAT. The menu focuses on flavor profiles that Richmonders know and love, combined with twists of the unfamiliar. “EAT Small” plates range from $4 – $10, and “EAT Large” are $15 and up featuring upscale, creative, Chef’s entrees with a focus on nightly fish specials. “EAT Your Greens” features fresh veggies from $6 – $10, and “EAT Your Sweets” are inventive and delectable made-in-house desserts for $8. “EAT Anytime” provides options for fun, casual munching, and at only $10 – $15. Plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options ensure everyone can EAT the beautifully plated and carefully prepared creations from the kitchen at the historic building turned restaurant at 626 China Street. If you haven’t made it over to this budding corner of Richmond, now is the time. Oregon Hill is within walking distance from the VCU campus and just off the Belvedere exit. Bring your appetite, because you’ll want to EAT everything on the menu.
